Outreach

Schools Program

Since children gain most from forest restoration, FORRU-CMU provides quality educational services to the younger generation at both primary and secondary school levels (in Thai or English), providing restoration skills and knowledge, based on the unit's research.

Volunteer Group Events

When FORRU-CMU's small staff are overstretched, volunteer groups help out with seed collection in the forest, simple tasks in the nursery or maintenance and monitoring trees in the restoration plots.

Academic Courses

Supported by FRAME project, FORRU-CMU provides courses on restoration at both BSc and MSc levels as well as online learning for practitioners and volunteerships for practical training.

Conferences

Contributing to conferences and workshops, both national and international, is an effective way to spread FORRU-CMU's research and educational outputs to support new forest restoration projects or improve existing ones.

Workshops for Professionals

Workshops for forest-restoration practitioners are aimed at NGO's, government officials and agencies, international bodies and university students. A wide variety of modules are available and can be mixed and matched to suit participants' needs.

Volunteerships

FORRU-CMU accepts occasional volunteer interns, most frequently undergrad students from  Thai or overseas universities, for periods of 1 month to a year (full-time or part-time).

Scholarships and Small-Grants

FORRU-CMU funding to assist CMU students who would like to make use of FORRU-CMU's field plot systems and/or nurseries to carry out their thesis projects.

Education Materials

FORRU-CMU offers various modules about the principles and techniques of forest restoration, available online for middle to high school range, as well as both international and local schools.
