Supporting programs worldwide

Contributing to conferences and workshops, both national and international, is an effective way to spread FORRU-CMU's research and educational outputs to support new forest restoration projects or improve existing ones. Participating in conferences can also influence policies and program worldwide. With the recent upsurge in interest in forest ecosystem restoration, as a result of the Bonn Challenge and the UN Decade on Restoration, the need to promote proven effective practices on global platforms has never been more urgent.

The latest conference FORRU-CMU contributed to was: Reforestation for Biodiversity, Carbon Capture and Livelihoods - an online event, organized by the UK's Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in February 2021.KEWPortal to all Conference materials.

Dr Dia Shannon presented about the framework species method of forest restoration on Day 1, whilst Dr. Steve Elliott presented about automated forest restoration on Day 3 and also co-authored the pre-conference paper: "Ten golden rules for reforestation to optimize carbon sequestration, biodiversity recovery and livelihood benefits" around which the conference was centered.
