Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) is gaining momentum under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030), supported by global initiatives like the Bonn Challenge, New York Declaration on Forests, and regional efforts such as the ASEAN Green Initiative. FLR approaches in Asia-Pacific show promise through diverse methods, innovative financing, and strong community involvement. FAO and IUCN examined 150 FLR projects, selecting 15 promising cases aligned with the UN’s restoration principles. These projects, which vary in cost from USD 15.50/ha to USD 70,000/ha, highlight the importance of participatory approaches, land tenure security, and integrating local livelihood priorities. The cases also emphasize resilience to environmental threats and sustained community engagement for long-term success.
