Sue graduated from Chiang Mai University with a B.Sc. in Zoology and an M.Sc. in Environmental Science (Environmental Risk Assessment for Tropical Ecosystems). Her MSc thesis project investigated the use of different containers to produce planting stock of framework tree species. Following graduation, she worked for FORRU-CMU from  1998 to 2000 as Nursery Manager and Educational Officer. She rejoined the unit in 2004-2008 as an Extension and Educational Officer working on the projects: " Facilitating Forest Restoration for Biodiversity Recovery in Indochina" (sponsored by the UK's Darwin Initiative) - spreading restoration concepts to neighboring countries - and "Trees for Thailand" (sponsored by the UK's Eden Project) - reaching out to local schools. She currently works for WWF-Thailand as a Forestry Project Manager implementing the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) Project, with rubber smallholders, whilst also rising to new challenges posed by "Ecological Landscape Restoration (ELR) with Conservation Intelligence" (i.e. GIS and drones).
