Research Student (PhD)

Kanlayarat completed her  Ph.D. in 2022 (Environmental Science program, Faculty of Science). Her Ph.D. project was “Determination of Aboveground Carbon Sequestration in Restored Forest by Framework Species Method”. The research was conducted in Ban Mae Sa Mai restoration plots of various ages planted in 1998, 2002 and 2007. Tree data and wood samples were collected for biomass calculation and carbon content analysis. She shows that the value of carbon sequestration during forest restoration vastly exceeds that of corn cultivation—one of the main drivers of deforestation in northern Thailand.
