How to Get the Most from our Library

The library area of the FORRU website has a dedicated search engine, enabling full-text search across all publication titles, authors, abstracts and publishers. All text in files attached to a publication (theses, research papers, book chapters etc.) is also extracted and included in the index and search results.

Search terms can be combined with any of the available 'filters' in the left-side option panels. For example, in the search below the topic 'Forest Ecology' has been combined with the 'Forest Degradation' ...

Forest Ecology and Forest Degradation

There are also several options for full-text search. Multiple search terms can be combined using AND/OR, and can be grouped with parenthesis.

For example:

Forests AND (Fire OR Seeds)

...will find all publications that include the term 'Forests' along with either word 'Fire' or 'Seeds'.

To search for an exact phrase, surround the phrase with double quotes.

For example:

"Automated vegetation monitoring"

...will find all publications containing that exact phrase.

There are also a three special prefixes that can be added to the start of the search query: title, authors, and publisher.

To limit your search to publication titles only (i.e., none of the other text in the publication will be searched - only the title), add title: to the beginning of your search.

For example:

title:"Prunus cerasoides"

...will find all publications whose title contains 'Prunus cerasoides' (note the double quotes to find the exact phrase).

To limit your search to publication authors, add authors: to the beginning of your search query.

For example:

authors:Tiansawat

...will find all publications whose authors include 'Tiansawat'

To limit your search to publisher, add publisher: to the beginning of your search.

For example:

publisher:"Siam Society"

...will find all publications whose publisher includes 'Siam Society.
